How radial loading affects fan life

Radial bearing loading is the largest factor in fan life -- especially in wall fans. This is because radial loading directly affects bearing life. Radial loading is minimized when the drive load is in the same plane as the bearings. Radial loading is multiplied dramatically as the load is offset from the bearings. This relationship is usually expressed as L10 hours life -- a good indicator of the useful life of the bearing -- a fan's most critical component.
