Family-owned business is run by fourth generation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 6, 2018) — Founded by the father and son team of James E. Graves Sr. and James E. Graves Jr., American Coolair Corporation has been a leading manufacturer of ventilation products for 90 years.

The family-owned company, which began operation on October 29, 1928 in Jacksonville, Fla., is currently run by Harry Graves Jr., Robert B. Graves and Sara Graves. They are the fourth generation from the Graves family to lead the company.

American Coolair has grown from producing attic fans for local clients during the company’s early years to offering comprehensive product lines for the world’s agricultural, horticultural, commercial and industrial ventilation industries today.

Since the beginning, every aspect of American Coolair’s manufacturing has taken place at AMC’s state-of-the-art 210,000 square foot facility. The company designs and builds their own molds, and all die casting and machining is performed in-house.

“When we say American-made, we truly mean it,” American Coolair President Harry Graves Jr. said. “Our parts are not manufactured somewhere else and shipped here for assembly. Our family prides itself on building top quality ventilation products.”

In 1928, the father-son team in Jacksonville, Fla., founded American Coolair Corporation. What began as a small factory operation would, within the next few decades, flourish with the help of manufacturers’ representatives and salesmen. Sales and markets for American Coolair fan systems increased rapidly.

Harry Graves Sr. was the third generation of the Graves family to manage American Coolair, and the catalyst who expanded the company to its current status. He was able to consolidate the factory and administration under one roof in the 1960s by moving the company to 110,000 sq. ft. building and continuing with expansion of the production facility and warehouse during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Throughout its history, the company has invested heavily in research and development along with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment to produce top-quality fans it has become known for

“We’ve always prided ourselves in being a family-run business,” Graves said. “Not many companies that have been in business as long as ours have been owned the entire time by one family.”

Founded in 1928, American Coolair Corporation is a true American manufacturer. Starting with steel sheet, steel coil, and aluminum ingot, American Coolair produces axial, centrifugal, high temperature and mixed flow fans for commercial, industrial, and restaurant applications. American Coolair also manufactures ventilation and evaporative cooling systems for the poultry, swine, dairy and greenhouse commercial and industrial fan industries.
